Mariners acquire Castillo top pitcher on market The Mariners made a major splash ahead of the Trade Deadline, acquiring Reds ace Luis Castillo in a blockbuster deal on Friday night. Seattle sent four players to Cincinnati in return for Castillo, including three of its top five prospects. The return package included shortstops Noelvi Marte (the Mariners' No. 1 prospect) and Edwin Arroyo (No. 3), as well as right-handers Levi Stoudt (No. 5) and Andrew Moore. “All of these kids, they're so much a part of what we've been building toward, and ultimately we knew that there would come a time where we'd feel like it was our time to take a step forward,” said Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto. “This is why you build stronger, deep organizations. The talent that these guys bring to the table allowed us to go out and get what we thought was the top pitcher on the market, and really, what we thought was one of the better pitchers in baseball right now.” The Mar...

How Joey Gallo feels about Yankees’ Andrew Benintendi trade as deadline looms Andrew Benintendi’s arrival in The Bronx on Thursday has further clouded Joey Gallo’s status as a Yankee. Gallo was back in the lineup on Thursday for the first time since Sunday, playing right field, but his season didn’t get any better. He went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts, though the Yankees won 1-0 over the Royals, and his days in pinstripes could be numbered ahead of the trade deadline Tuesday. “Yeah, I mean, honestly I’m not really thinking about it too much,” Gallo said Thursday before hearing louder boos with each strikeout from the crowd of 43,836. “I’m just trying to focus on today and what role I’m playing today. “If they pull me in the office and tell me I’m going somewhere else, then that’s where I go. But until then, I’m a Yankee right now. I’m just going to keep playing as hard as I can and help the team win any way I can in whatever role.” What that role will look like is uncertain, with Beni...

The country superstar — who was bit by a tick while horseback riding back in 2003 — said in her new Netflix documentary that her symptoms were “quite scary.” “Before I was diagnosed, I was on stage very dizzy,” she said in “Not Just a Girl.” “I was losing my balance, I was afraid I was gonna fall off the stage.” She added, “I was having these very, very, very millisecond blackouts, but regularly, every minute or every 30 seconds.” Not only did the chronic illness impact Twain’s ability to perform, but the queen of country pop developed dysphonia, which caused her to temporarily lose her voice. “My voice was never the same again,” she recalled. “I thought I’d lost my voice forever. I thought that was it, I would never, ever sing again.” Twain underwent multiple invasive surgeries following th...
